He is survived by his four children and nine grandchildren. Jim’s goal was to work until the Lord allowed him to, and we are so thankful that he was able to do just that.
Jim began practicing law in California in 1959, and for the past sixty-two (62) years he ran his boutique law firm concentrating on client service and long-term estate planning. The last twenty-five (25) of those years, Jim had been “Of Counsel” to our firm.
For years Jim had made it known that when the time came that he could no longer serve you, Copenbarger Law Firm would be there to ensure Jim’s standard of service and diligence would be carried forth, and we are honored that we will be able to do just that.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of your estate planning attorney, James A. Humphreys Jr. Jim passed away on September 13, 2021, due to complications with covid and pneumonia at the age of ninety-one (91). Jim is survived by his four children and nine grandchildren. As many of you know, Jim’s goal was to work until the Lord allowed him to and we are so thankful that he was able to do just that. We know many of you enjoy the amazing service of Mily Martinez, Jim’s longtime Paralegal. Mily will remain on staff with our firm and looks for- ward to working with you as a member of the Copenbarger family.
We sincerely hope that you will work with us through this transition and continue to have us represent you. Clients and Access Credit Program members alike will continue to benefit just as you always have. As you may be aware, almost all changes must be accomplished in compliance with several California State Bar Rules, and one of those rules is obtaining your permission to have your file seen by the attorneys and staff of Copenbarger & Copenbarger LLP. If you pre- fer not to have your file seen by Copenbarger & Copenbarger LLP, please inform us, in writing, within 90 days. If that is your preference, we will be glad to mail your file to you.
